Rain Disrupts Day 1 of India vs Australia Third Test at the Gabba

Brisbane: The eagerly awaited third Test between Australia and India got off to a wet start at the Gabba on December 14, 2024. India, having won the toss, opted to bowl first under overcast conditions, hoping to exploit the pitch early. However, only 13.2 overs were bowled before rain brought play to a premature halt, with Australia at 28/0.

Opener Usman Khawaja looked steady on 19 off 47 balls, while debutant Nathan McSweeney managed 4 off 33 balls. The Indian pace attack, led by Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep, maintained disciplined lines but couldn’t manage a breakthrough before the rain intervened.

The rain persisted throughout the day, with multiple inspections failing to clear the ground for further play. As a result, the first day ended early, frustrating players and fans alike. Early starts have been scheduled for the remaining days to make up for lost time, with a total of 98 overs planned per day.

The weather forecast for Days 2 and 3 is more favorable, but further rain could disrupt proceedings on Days 4 and 5. India currently leads the series 1-0, adding significant importance to this match for both teams.

Stay tuned for updates as we hope for clearer skies in the coming days.
