The veteran statesman, who dedicated over five decades of his life to public service, breathed his last at a private hospital in Bengaluru after a prolonged illness.

He served as the Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1999 to 2004, leaving behind a legacy of development, particularly in the IT sector, which earned Bengaluru the title of “Silicon Valley of India.”

Krishna also held key positions, including the Governor of Maharashtra and Union Minister for External Affairs in the UPA government from 2009 to 2012. Known for his diplomatic acumen, he played a crucial role in strengthening India’s international relations, particularly during his tenure at the Ministry of External Affairs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences, calling S.M.
